Dr. Chanwit Phengpis is a tenured Professor of
Finance in the Department of Finance at California State University, Long
Beach. He was an Assistant Professor and an Associate Professor from 2006
to 2014. Prior to joining CSULB, he was an Assistant Professor of Finance at
California State University, Stanislaus.
Dr. Phengpis received his Ph.D. in finance (with
minor in economics) from University of Texas at Arlington. He also received his
bachelor's degree in accounting with concentration in costing from
Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, an MBA from San Francisco State
University and a certificate in finance with specialization in investment
management from University of California Berkeley Extension. Upon completion of
his master's degree, he worked for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. in San
Francisco as an Operation Specialist in the Equities Purchase and Sales
Department.
The areas of Dr. Phengpis' research interest
include: investments, international finance, derivatives and time series
econometrics. His research articles appear in various academic journals such as
International Review of Financial Analysis, Global Finance Journal,
Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of
Multinational Financial Management, Journal of Economics and Business,
Applied Financial Economics, Journal of International Financial
Markets, Institutions and Money, Journal of Financial Services Research,
Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Business
Finance and Accounting, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Asia-Pacific Business.
Dr. Phengpis has been on numerous Committees and
Task Forces at Departmental, College and University levels. He has also served
as an ad hoc referee for economics and finance journals such as International
Review of Applied Economics, Journal of International Financial Markets,
Institutions and Money, Journal of Banking and Finance and International
Review of Economics and Finance.
